Simplicity is a crucial secret to success. Doing in a simple way what others do in a complicated one is an incredible advantage. In the end, as human beings, we love simple things, nevertheless, sometimes, we are incredibly good at complicating them. And in fact, hard truth, many can’t achieve or keep what they want simply because they follow overly complicated processes or instructions.
So, my advice, of commonsense and maybe a little counterintuitive, is to set yourself up for an easy win! With that I do not relate to laziness nor lack of commitment. Instead, the idea behind this is that if something looks too complicated or time consuming, chances are that, after the initial enthusiasm, you will not keep on doing it.
Just to give you an example. One of my friends was really committed to lose some pounds and tone up a bit. Therefore, she decided to buy a program that comprised nutrition plan and workout. Initially, I decided not to interfere and I just watched. However, I was shocked when I realized that the weekly meal plan included more than 20 whole eggs, but the best had yet to come! When it came to follow the directions to prepare the meals, it took her a whole day to cook them and, at the end of it, she hadn’t finished yet! Of course, this was not something she could keep on doing for a long time.
Your time and your energy are your main resources. Unfortunately, they are both limited. So, invest your resources wisely, in what really matters! Don’t waste them, playing too hard or struggling. Keep things as simple as you can. If something looks too complicated or extreme, just don’t do it! Most likely it won’t last long enough to effectively support you in getting what you want.
Do you relate to this? I’ll see you in the next post where we will be talking about Self-sabotage.
