I found this picture surfing on the web: the contrast between the grace and delicacy of flowers and their strength makes me think about resilience and how it is so crucial, in life, being able to strengthen this innate ability a little bit more every day.

But what is resilience? The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, trusting and knowing that inside ourselves we have an incredible set of inner resources and different tools we can tap into whenever we need to regain strenght, re-center and re-balance ourselves. And if you have ever noticed it, it works, every time. No matter what is going on around us, in the end, things are always working us for us, even though at the beginning we didn’t know it as we lacked the depth of perspective that only experience can provide us with.

How many times do we experience circumstances that look like big obstacles and hinder our well-being? How often do we feel stuck and unhappy, unable to move forward or even just look beyond the current situation? I go through this, from time to time, just as much as many of you do. And sometimes I do quite forget that the problem and the solution are two differents ends of the same “stick” and that, therefore, as long as I stay focused on the problem, chances that I get to the solution are very slim. In other words, you cannot solve a problem standing in the same energy that created it. It just doesn’t work out!

There always will be situations, events, people we don’t particularly like and that, for this very reason, put us under pressure and test our resilience. However, in those moments, even if we feel powerless, we are very far from being defeated. In fact, we are getting back the power to make choices: we can act a knee-jerk reaction (that probably won’t take us very far) or stop for a while, soothe ourselves without the need to judge anyone, choose a new way to look at the very same things and then, only then, find the most appropriate response.

No matter how thin it is, a slice has always two sides!

I want to be here for you and remind you that investing in ourselves to strenghten our beings is always a possible choice.
